The objective of the William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund, Inc. is to partner with major institutions in the Mid-Atlantic area in order to provide an ongoing source of funds earmarked to support sickle cell awareness, education and research. They currently have a commitment to provide funding for the Nemours Alfred I DuPont Hospital for Children and are pursuing a similar relations with Johns Hopkins.

Their mission is to:

To support sickle cell awareness and education aimed at the prevention of sickle cell disease
To support efforts at early detection and research focused on effective treatment modalities
To promote the discovery of a life-saving cure
To bring hope to families affected by this devastating disease
